The carbon cost of a heavy website - and what to do about it
Every megabyte you ship is energy someone else has to spend. Lightweight is not just faster - it is more sustainable.
The average web page has quietly ballooned over the last decade. Most of that weight is invisible to the people who commission it and expensive for the people who load it.
A lighter site loads faster, ranks better and costs less to run - and it also burns less energy across every device that opens it. Sustainability and performance are the same project.
The biggest wins are boring: right-size your images, drop the fonts you are not using, and question every third-party script. Most heavy sites are heavy by accident, not by need.
We build to a payload budget the same way we build to a deadline. When weight is a first-class constraint, the whole product gets sharper.
